Charles Middleburgh has a lifelong passion for wildlife and has been a
keen photographer since the age of 11. He is a supporter of many conservation
and environmental organisations and is a Fellow of the Zoological Society
of London and the Royal Society of Arts and a member of the Wildlife Art
Society. His favourite subjects for photography are tigers, followed by
gorillas and elephants. He regularly takes pictures at London Zoo, near
which he works, and tries to visit other zoos when he can get to them.
These photos were all taken over an eighteen month period at the animal
collections named, and Dr Middleburgh is particularly grateful to Angela
Samson at the Paradise Wildlife Park in Broxbourne, Herts for the special
help and access that he was given on his last visit.
